We are excited to share that, last week, The University of Alabama Board of Trustees approved Phase 1 of The Crimson Standard. We will now begin the process of sending this project out for bid and, based on the current timeline, will begin construction immediately following the 2019 football season.
When this project was announced in August 2018, we knew the plan would evolve. As we have worked to develop a renovation plan that will create the game-day experience both our fans and recruits need and deserve while maintaining a fiscally responsible focus, some modifications to the original concepts were developed. Highlights of the changes are below:
- The south upper deck will remain intact.
- In place of one large videoboard in the south end of the stadium, all four videoboards will remain in their current locations but will be replaced with 60% larger screens. This will ensure that all fans have a view of the improved videoboards.
- Additionally, the student social area is being relocated from the proposed terrace on the south end to a ground-level concourse with upgraded concessions, restrooms and charging stations.
- The loge boxes are being relocated from the corners to the west side of the stadium.
- Most of the Phase I renovations to Bryant-Denny Stadium are proceeding as shared in the original concept. Some of these highlights include:
- New team tunnel directly into the locker room
- Fully updated game day locker room
- Renovated recruiting space that will more than double our square footage
- Relocating the press box to the east
- Addition of several new premium areas including loge boxes, Champions Club, Terrace Club, new skyboxes and Founders Suites
The new premium seating at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be second-to-none, providing a superior game day experience. While demand has been high, there is still inventory available in some of our new premium areas. Phase I of The Crimson Standard will include renovations to other Athletics Facilities as well:
- Rhoads Stadium will see a $3 million renovation including improved amenities and concessions as well as the team and recruiting areas.
- Our golf facilities will be upgraded and we look forward to sharing details about that soon.
- The Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility will receive improvements to every area that impacts the training and health of our student-athletes. All of our training and medical facilities will be revamped and we are adding a state-of-the-art Sports Science Center.
Future phases of The Crimson Standard will see even more exciting renovations and changes that will enhance the experience for our Men's & Women's Basketball and Gymnastics fans and student-athletes. Additional upgrades to Bryant-Denny Stadium will continue to enhance the game-day experience for all fans.
